Dans cette conversation, Carlo Ginzburg revient sur son parcours et son œuvre, en commençant par le rôle marquant joué par Marc Bloch dans son cheminement intellectuel. La discussion tourne ensuite autour de la nouvelle édition augmentée de son ouvrage classique Miti emblemi spie. Morfologia e storia (Adelphi, 2023) en abordant les thèmes suivants: Si l’interprétation en histoire se comprend comme une façon de traduire les mots des acteurs, quelles en sont les implications épistémologiques et éthiques ? Comment pourrions nous élargir la notion de philologie aux choses et aux images pour rendre compte de la réalité historique ? La chercheuse Béatrice von Hirschhausen a été distinguée parmi les 100 intellectuels berlinois les plus importants par le journal Tagesspiegels (100 wichtigsten Köpfen der Berliner Wissenschaft). Le Centre Marc Bloch lui adresse toutes ses félicitations et à cette occasion, nous rediffusons l'épisode enregistré en avril dernier avec Benoît Vaillot, où elle revenait sur son dernier ouvrage. Dans cet épisode, Benoit Vaillot s’est entretenu avec la géographe Béatrice von Hirschhausen, directrice de recherche au CNRS (UMR 8504 Géographie-Cités), ainsi qu’au Centre Marc Bloch depuis près de 20 ans, centre dont elle a été la directrice adjointe de 2009 à 2014, et qui a notamment publié Les Provinces du temps. Frontières fantômes et expériences de l’histoire (CNRS Éditions, 2023) Les travaux de Béatrice von Hirschhausen explorent la notion de région culturelle dans une perspective constructiviste. Ils interrogent la manière dont les acteurs ordinaires co-produisent l’espace géographique. Comment les acteurs se situent dans l’espace-monde et dans l’Histoire? Comment interprètent-ils l’histoire de leur espace et les futurs possibles? Comment leurs choix s’y éclairent au croisement de leurs expériences et de leurs horizons d’attente, pour reprendre l'expression de Reinhart Koselleck? Dans cet entretien, Béatrice von Hirschhausen revient notamment sur le concept de « frontière fantôme », élaboré dans le cadre de programme de recherche « Phantomgrenzen », qu’elle a dirigé entre 2009 et 2017 au Centre Marc Bloch. Ce concept appliqué à l’Europe centrale et orientale est d’une grande portée heuristique et mériterait d’être saisi par l’ensemble des sciences humaines et sociales. Il est discuté ici à travers les cas de « frontière fantôme » que l’on décèle en Pologne, en Roumanie et en Allemagne, et par un détour par l’actualité de la guerre en Ukraine. Pour ce nouvel épisode de Radio Marc Bloch, Cédric Pellen, chercheur asso cié au Centre Marc Bloch, s’est entretenu avec Frédéric Petit, député de la septième circonscription des Français établis hors de France (Allemagne, Europe centrale et Balkans), à l’occasion de sa visite à Berlin pour le soixantième anniversaire de l’Office franco-allemand pour la Jeunesse (OFAJ). Dans cet entretien, Frédéric Petit a accepté d’éclairer plusieurs aspects de cette fonction méconnue. Quelles sont les priorités actuelles de la diplomatie culturelle et d’influence de la France ? Quels sont les différents acteurs qui participent à sa définition et à sa mise en oeuvre à l’étranger ? Quel est l’état des relations bilatérales franco-allemandes en matière de coopération culturelle et scientifique ? In this new episode of Radio Marc Bloch, Saphe Shamoun, PhD candidate in anthropology at Columbia University and EUME fellow, together with Leyla Dakhli, CNRS researcher at the Centre Marc Bloch and the artists Bassem Saad and Joud Al-Tamimi, interview Fawwaz Traboulsi. Fawwaz Traboulsi is a renowned historian, writer, translator and journalist. He has taught Political Science, International Affairs and History at the Lebanese American University and the American University of Beirut. His twenty books and numerous publications deal with history, liberation and social movements, political philosophy, memoirs, folklore and art. He has translated into Arabic Edward Said’s Out of Place (2003), Humanism and On Late Style (2015) as well as Antonio Gramsci’s Notes on Italian History (2017). Since 2012, Fawwaz Traboulsi is the editor of the quarterly cultural magazine Bidayat. The episode was recorded after a conference Fawwaz Traboulsi gave in Berlin in May 2023 at the Berlin Institute for Cultural Inquiry. This conference took place in collaboration with the ERC programme DREAM, the Orient Institute of Beirut (OIB ), the research programme Europe in the Middle East (EUME), a nd the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO). In the final episode of our series "Cars and political struggles", Yasmin Afshar talked to the psychoanalyst Jamieson Webster about the psychic and affective aspects of the current polarizations around of cars. From the point of view of psychoanalysis, the libidinal investment in objects is particular to each individual; there is, however, in the human gesture of dominating technical tools the urge to overcome environmental hostility, death, unhappiness – even if these attempts only achieves artial satisfaction and end up being ridiculous. It doesn't seem to be any different with the car. In this conversation, Jamieson Webster talked about representations of car culture in the light of psychoanalytic theory, its relationship to desire, masculinity and destructiveness. Jamieson Webster is psychoanalyst in New York City and teaches in the psychoanalytic concentration in the Philosophy department at The New School for Social Research. In the third episode of the summer series "Automobiles and Political Struggles", Yasmin Afshar spoke with political theorist William Callison, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Human Geography at Uppsala University in Sweden and a member of the Zetkin Collective, a group of academics and activists working on far-right ecology. Taking the car as a symbol of individual freedom and the rejection of the state, Callison analyzed the anti-ecological drift of car culture in both Europe and the Americas. Taking the United States as a paradigm, our guest also addresses the masculinist and racist aspects that are expressed in driving behavior, as well as the centrality of the car in protests against measures to combat covid-19, the so-called "diagonalist" movement. In dieser zweiten Folge der Sommerserie „Auto und politische Kämpfe“ begrüßt Yasmin Afshar, assoziierte Doktorandin am Centre Marc Bloch in Sozialphilosophie, den Forscher Simon Schaupp, um über die Klassendynamiken unserer von Automobilität geprägten Gesellschaften zu diskutieren. Simon Schaupp ist Oberassistent am Lehrstuhl für Sozialstrukturanalyse an der Universität Basel. Er forscht vor allem zur Transformation der Arbeitswelt, zur Digitalisierung und zur ökologischen Krise. Der „fossile Klassenkompromiss“, d.h. die Befriedung von Klassenkonflikten im Europa der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit, basierte weitgehend auf der Massenproduktion von individuellen Automobilen. In diesem Zusammenhang spielte insbesondere in Europa die Integration durch neue Konsumgewohnheiten eine Schlüsselrolle. Derzeit erleben wir jedoch die Erschöpfung dieses Sozialpakts, welche sich sowohl im sinkenden Lebensstandard als auch die Klimakrise infolge der Überschreitung planetarer Grenzen ausdrückt. Eine Konsequenz dieser Entwicklung ist laut Schaupp das Phänomen „ökologische Klassenkämpfe“, wofür die die Gelbwestenbewegung in Frankreich ein Beleg liefern soll. Wie lässt sich die gesellschaftliche Polarisierung über den Autoverkehr unter dem Aspekt von Klassenverhältnissen verstehen? Welche politische Perspektiven ergeben sich aus dem neuen Konflikt? Dies sind die zentralen Fragen, welche Simon Schaupp in der aktuellen Folge beantwortet. Pour accompagner votre été, Radio Marc Bloch vous propose une série en quatre épisodes intitulée « Voiture et luttes politiques » ! Pour cette série, Yasmin Afshar , doctorante associée en philosophie au Centre Marc Bloch, est partie à la rencontre de spécialistes de mobilité et d'écologie politique. La voiture occupe en effet une place centrale dans les débats actuels en France comme en Allemagne, mais tout particulièrement à Berlin: réduction de la vitesse sur les autoroutes, restriction des places de parking dans les quartiers, ou encore construction d’un tronçon d’autoroute qui traverserait la capitale! Ces questions suscitent des réactions virulentes et polarisent le débat public. Afin de prendre un peu de recul sur ces questions, cette série propose de l'examiner dans une perspective historique critique. Pour ce premier épisode, Yasmin Afhsar s'est entretenue avec le chercheur Pierre Lannoy, chargé de cours en sociologie à l’Université Libre de Bruxelles et spécialiste des questions relatives à la mobilité. Dans cette épisode, Pierre Lannoy revient sur la centralité politique et sociale de la voiture depuis le début du 20e siècle jusqu'à nos jours. Il rappelle comment la massification de l’automobile individuelle à partir des années 1920 a transformé les chaînes de production, les modes de vie et les paysages dans diverses régions du monde. Aujourd'hui, le lien entre la voiture et les idéaux de modernisation et d'ascension sociale a été remis en question. Quelles sont les conséquences politiques et sociales de cette transformation ?
